In Maths, we have completed our addition and subtraction unit and moved on to multiplication and division. Within this, we have mastered multiples (including the lowest common multiple) and are beginning to explore factors in greater detail. To do this, we explored how to make an array using counters and how this demonstrates the various deifferent factors within a number.

In English, we edited, redrafted and published our origin stories with great success and enjoyement. We really focused on joining our letters and making our letter sizes as consistent as possible. To end the week, we looked at a poem by Lewis Carroll named Jabberwocky and answered reading comprehension questions related to the text.

In RE, our investigation into the creation story took an interesting turn as we explored the origin of the universe from both a Christian and scientific perspective; this will led to great discussions on whether the evidence is contradictory or supportive of Christian beliefs towards Genesis.

On Thursday, we enjoyed our Harvest Service at church where years 5 and 6 were able to show tremendous speaking and listening skills. Poems were read out and songs were sung as we made the most of the festivities. We learned about the importance of gratitude and generosity.

With an incredible amount of detail, we finished our orienteering maps from last week relating to the local area joined by step by step instructions. There’s plenty more to look forward to next week as we reach the later parts of many of our exciting topics.
