Key Strengths
- Safe & Caring Environment: 100% of pupils feel that adults in the school care about them. Furthermore, 95% state they feel safe ('Always' or 'Mostly'), and 98% agree that teachers and the headteacher do a good job.
- High Academic Engagement & Pupil Effort: 90% of pupils report working hard in lessons ('Always' or 'Mostly'), and 87% state they learn new things in class ('Always' or 'Mostly'). Feedback mechanisms are clear, with 89% confirming that adults explain how to improve their work.
- Rich Co-Curricular & Enrichment Participation: Participation in school-wide activities is exceptionally high: 90% have represented the school in a musical event, 77% in a sporting event, and 66% have had a speaking part in a church service.
- Values Education: Awareness of fundamental social values is widespread, with 98% having been taught about bullying, 97% about racism, and 89% about British values.
- Strong Peer Relationships & Everyday Kindness: 92% of pupils report having friends to play with ('Always' or 'Mostly'). Qualitative examples of good behavior frequently highlighted pupils holding doors, including others in playground games, and helping peers who fall over or feel sad.
Pupil Recommendations for the School
An overwhelming majority of Key Stage 2 pupils—59 out of 61 (96.7%)—state that they would recommend their school to other children.
Pupils gave several consistent reasons for their recommendations:
- Kind and Caring Community: A central theme across the feedback is the warm, welcoming environment. Pupils frequently highlight that both staff and peers are kind, friendly, caring, and inclusive, ensuring no one feels left out.
- Supportive & Listening Staff: Children report feeling valued and heard by their teachers and headteacher. They praise staff for listening to their ideas (such as buying a classroom pet), helping them when they are sad or stuck, and guiding them on how to improve.
- High-Quality & Engaging Learning: Pupils consistently mention that lessons are interesting, fun, and clear. They feel they are gaining valuable knowledge, writing skills, and maths methods.
- Rich Opportunities & Co-Curricular Activities: Children value the variety of experiences provided, explicitly praising residentials, school trips, choir/Young Voices, sports events, after-school clubs, and playground activities like football.
- Safety, Size, and Environment: Several responses note that the school feels safe and organised. A pupil specifically mentioned that its smaller size makes it an ideal, non-overwhelming choice for children transferring from larger schools.
Pupil’s reasons for what children think their parents think about Richard Crosse:
Out of 61 Key Stage 2 pupils surveyed, 55 children (90.2%) believe their parents think Richard Crosse is a good school, while 6 children (9.8%) answered "Don't know". No pupils reported that their parents held a negative view of the school.
Although the questionnaire combined the justification fields for pupil recommendations and perceived parental views, children highlighted specific reasons reflecting why their parents hold the school in high regard:
- High Quality of Education: Pupils noted that their parents value the school's strong educational standards and structured learning, with one pupil specifically sharing that their parents view it as having "better education than any other school my parents have sent me to".
- Kind and Supportive Teaching Staff: Children frequently cited the kindness and helpfulness of teachers as a primary reason for their parents' positive opinions, noting that "all the teachers are all nice".
- Organisation and School Culture: Pupils highlighted that parents appreciate the school being well-organised, welcoming, and focused on maintaining a safe, friendly environment where children are well-cared for.
- Pupil Happiness and Progress: Children observed that their parents consider the school good because it helps them learn, build confidence, make friends, and stay happy and healthy.

Overall Satisfaction: 90.6% expressed overall satisfaction (46.9% Strongly Agree, 43.8% Agree).
The 2026 Parent Questionnaire reflects overwhelmingly positive sentiment across the school community, with 90.6% of respondents expressing overall satisfaction. The findings highlight significant strengths in safety, quality of teaching, leadership, and community values, with 93.8% of parents reporting that their child feels happy and safe at school.
Areas of strength:
Attendance Communication: 100% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they are well-informed regarding attendance.
Community & Values: 87.5% agreed/strongly agreed that the school is well-thought-of locally and actively lives out its core values (Love-Respect-Friendship).
Leadership & Teaching: 93.8% agreed/strongly agreed that the school is well taught and well led and managed.
Safety & Happiness: 93.8% reported that their child is happy and feels safe at the school.

The 2026 Year 6 Leavers Questionnaire reflects overwhelming satisfaction, strong emotional security, and deep appreciation for the teaching staff, school values, and overall learning environment at Richard Crosse Primary School.

- Accessible Adult Support: Pupils frequently noted that staff members are approachable and responsive when worries arise, whether related to family situations, academic stress, or secondary school anxiety.
- Individualised Attention: Teachers were praised for tailored support—slowing down the pace in subjects like math and easing test anxieties during SATs.
- Fairness & Listening: When minor playground conflicts or organisational issues arose, pupils noted that teachers intervened constructively to ensure fair team selection and play.

Key Stage 1 Pupil Voice questionnaire gathers feedback from 30 pupils to assess their overall well-being, safety, engagement, and understanding of classroom progress. The results demonstrate an overwhelmingly positive picture of the school environment, characterised by high levels of safety, strong social relationships, and consistent teacher guidance. Pupils report high satisfaction with their learning and feel well-supported by school adults when upset. The findings highlight a thriving, inclusive school community with minor opportunities for further enhancement around physical health education and playground provision.

In response to the question ‘What helps you feel happy at school?’:
When asked what helps them feel happy at school, the pupils overwhelmingly identified social connections and play as their primary sources of joy. The vast majority of responses focused on seeing, playing, and learning alongside their friends. Engaging classroom experiences also featured prominently, with children frequently citing general learning, fun lessons, and specific subjects like PE, Science, Maths, and RE as key happiness factors. Additional highlights included unstructured play activities such as Lego and tag, going on school trips, and enjoying school dinners.




EYFS Pupil Voice 2026
Overall, pupil satisfaction is exceptionally high, with 100% of children feeling safe, enjoying indoor and outdoor activities, having friends to play with, and feeling positive about their learning.
