What a wonderful, action-packed week we have had in Class 2! It has been an absolute joy to watch the children dive into their learning with so much enthusiasm, and we have so many exciting updates to share with you.

In our English lessons, we kicked off a brilliant new unit focused on recounts. To start, the children became detectives to look closely at the features of a recount, discovering how we use past tense, time connectives, and chronological order to retell an event. To give us something truly memorable to write about, we held a special birthday party for our class friend, Tiny! The children had a fantastic time celebrating, and we will be using all of our wonderful firsthand memories from the party to help us write some fantastic, detailed recounts next week.

Our mathematicians have also been incredibly focused this week as we explored subtraction and finding the difference. To master this, we spent time learning how to identify the difference between a part and a whole, which really helped us understand how the numbers fit together when we solve our equations. The children showed great determination when working things out, using concrete resources and drawings to help secure their understanding.

In history, we took a fascinating trip down memory lane by comparing toys in the past to toys we play with now. We investigated how toys have changed over time, looking particularly at the materials they are made from—noticing how older toys often used wood and metal while modern toys frequently use plastic. It was wonderful to see the children realise that while the materials have changed, some classic toys and games are still just as loved today as they were many years ago!

Finally, the school was awash with colour today as we dressed up in yellow to celebrate World Mental Health Day. This opened up some beautiful conversations in our classroom about looking after our minds and emotions. We spent some quiet time completing mindfulness colouring and had a very thoughtful discussion about where our safe space would be, whether that is a cozy corner at home, a favorite spot in the garden, or right here in our classroom. What a busy, productive, and truly lovely week it has been in Class 2! Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you have a restful weekend
