The weeks appear to be flying by! It has been a very successful week in Class 4 with our place value unit in mathematics nearing a close. After comparing integers of all sizes, we have begun investigating negative numbers. By using a number line to support us we have mastered the concept of negative numbers being greater as they near towards zero.

In our English lessons, we have written wonderfully powerful character descriptions that are full of noun phrases and imagery. We have also developed our use of adverbial phrases and discovered how to us colons to add detail/explanation. Towards the end of the week, we have also begun learning about the 'place value' of grammar.

For whole class reading, we have been retrieving information from an origin story utilising the skill of skimming and scanning. We have been creative with how we represent this in the form of a wanted poster for the cunning fox named Slylooking.

In PE we have been continuing with health related exercise and working wonderfully in groups to practice leadership skills by creating, running and adapting activities for other groups to enjoy. For RE, we analysed Genesis and debated what text type it would fall under. Eventually we decided that this was open to your individual interpretation. With great precision and care, we created detailed maps in Geography that included a key and labels for grid referencing. Mrs Pachl and Ms Partington carried out art lessons and outdoor learning on Friday afternoon that were a perfect way to end the busy week allowing time for reflection and stillness.
