Another week with magnificent children who have demonstrated perseverance, pride and positivity!

In Mathematics, we have commenced our addition and subtraction unit- we have explored adding and subtracting across a boundary and which method children prefer to use. This has involved using place value counters to cement our place value understanding and later we progressed to formal written methods.

In English, we have concluded our unit on ‘Leon and the Place Between’ by publishing our stories in our new Independent Write books. Everyone was so excited to demonstrate how they could use Miss Collins’ craft box to create a magical, marvellous masterpiece. Also, we have been introduced to our new text ‘One Boy’s War’ by Lynn Huggins-Cooper which links to our learning in History. Through oracy- based activities, the children have worked in trios to predict what will happen in the story and understand how to empathise with the characters: the hot seating activity especially supported us in stepping into someone else’s shoes.

On Thursday, we attended our Harvest Service where we sang uplifting songs to parents and showcased our autumnal sun catchers. In PE, we learnt how to pass a football accurately and hopefully that will stand some of the class in good stead when playing their matches on the weekend. When we reflected on the lesson, it was clear that teamwork, patience and resilience were some important factors. In RE, we discussed what we could do to be stewards of God’s world such as caring for animals and being generous to others.

I hope that everyone enjoys their weekends.
